Trinity Fellowship

TRINITY Fellowship Who Are We?

TRINITY Fellowship, a Global Methodist Church (GMC), is made up of a body of believers in Leoti, Kansas, committed first to love our Triune God (Father, Son & Holy Spirit) with our all, and second to love others as our Lord Jesus has loved us (Jn. 15:12). We seek to grow in spiritual holiness through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit by upholding Biblical truths in love (Eph. 4:15), all for the glory of God the Father. We are committed to fulfill our role in Jesus’ Great Commission mandate in making disciples of all nations (Matt. 28:16-20). We believe who we worship and fellowship with determines who we become and what we do.

Why “TRINITY Fellowship”?

“TRINITY Fellowship” became our new name in 2022 when we disaffiliated from the United Methodist denomination. “TRINITY” was selected and is in all capitals to place the focus, emphasis, and glory on our Triune God. “Fellowship” verses “Church” was chosen to emphasize the need of a growing and intimate fellowship with our Triune God and other believers (I Jn. 1:1-4). Every believer, we affirm, is given spiritual gifts to represent Jesus through a wide range of ministries (I Cor. 12:4- 13:13) in the fallen world God so loves (Jn. 3:16).

Our Affiliation

The mission of the Global Methodist Church (GMC) we are affiliated with is: “To make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly.” Check out GMC vision, beliefs, polity, and structure at: www.globalmethodist.org.

Our Methodist Roots & Brief History

Our Methodist DNA roots go back to 1886 when Rev. C. K. Woodson came to spread the gospel in Wichita County and make disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. After Rev. Woodson passed a hat at a saloon to raise the additional funds to build a structure for people to gather in, the donations came to more than $250 more than needed to build the first church building.

As this body of believers grew in Leoti, new land was purchased in 1923 and a steam engine was used to move the brick building onto the new site. On August 4, 1923, a tornado destroyed the building and Sunday School and worship services to our Triune God were held in the County Courthouse, until a new building was built.

On October 18, 1964, two hundred and thirty-two congregants walked from the old church site to the new sanctuary to worship our Triune God and advance the truth of

the gospel and Jesus’ love within and beyond our community. In 1968 the Leoti Methodist Episcopal Church became the United Methodist Church and in 1997 the Pleasant Valley Methodist Church, a country congregation, merged with our local congregation. On November 1, 2022, we disaffiliated from the United Methodist Church and became a Global Methodist Church to better love and serve our crucified and risen Lord Jesus Christ.
